Robbery suspect, 1 other arrested during patrol
CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested two men armed with knives in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City while on patrol dawn yesterday.
The roving team headed by PO3 Ferdinand Pablo and PO2 Henry Mata said they placed Junald Bajura, 18, alias "Witnes" and Gaylo Delagente, 27, under arrest after bladed weapons were found in their possession. The two were among those randomly frisked during the patrol.
An 18-inch knife was found with Bajura while a 10-inch knife was found with Delagente.
Bajura was tagged as among those who allegedly robbed a certain Anabel Taborada, 33 late night last Monday. Taborada said five men took her shoulder bag, which contained P1,500 cash, GSIS and PRC identification cards, and other valuables items while she was traversing the Mananga bridge in Barangay Tabunok.
Taborada positively identified Bajura at the police station. Based on records of the police, Bajura comes in different aliases, which include "Robert," "Buddy," "Melvin," and "Reymart Roxas."
Bajura is facing charges for robbery and concealing of deadly weapon while Delagente is facing a charge of concealing of deadly weapon.
It can be recalled that Roxas was identified earlier as among the cohorts of robbery suspect Rolando Sanchez who was arrested last January 25 along with five other men.
His group is known to prey on multicabs passing by the Mananga bridge on the wee hours of the night. The multicab they robbed last January 25 was the second vehicle they preyed on in less than an hour. They were about to run away with the passengers' valuables when an unidentified person shot Sanchez and hit him on the right thigh.
Sanchez' companions brought him to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medial Center for treatment, which led to Sanchez' arrest and that of his cohorts. Roxas, however, eluded arrest. - Liv G. Campo/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
