Gillamac adds another feather to his cap

CEBU, Philippines - Twice voted outstanding policeman, Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac, the chief of the Mandaue City Police Office, again won another honor, this time from business groups and the Office of Cebu sixth district Rep. Luigi Quisumbing.

Gillamac was given a plaque of recognition by the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Cebu Business Club, Rep. Quisumbing, and the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants at Parklane Hotel yesterday for effective management and leadership skills in instilling discipline among the members of the MCPO and for initiating policy changes which resulted to the solution of high profile crimes and the decrease in crime volume from January to December of 2010 as compared to year 2009.

"Daku nga honor ni sa MCPO kay siyempre maka-boost ni sa atong morale. I am happy that here is a group of businessmen who appreciate the good deeds nga atong nabuhat," Gillamac said in an interview with The FREEMAN.

Gillamac is likewise thankful to Quisumbing, who according to him have helped so much for the police force.

Aside from Quisumbing, Gillamac said Mayor Jonas Cortes is also very supportive of the police force as well as the MCCI headed by its president Eric Mendoza.

"With all their support, logistic and financial, walay rason nganong dili ta mahimong efficient. We are so thankful to Mayor Cortes, Congressman Luigi and Eric for all their support," Gillamac said.

Gillamac is a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy (Class 1987).

He was also given a plaque of recognition by the city government of Mandaue last August for solving high profile cases in the city.

He is voted twice as Outstanding Policeman by the Kiwanis Club in 1994 and 1995.

He was also adjudged as the Junior Police Officer of the year in 1994 by the PNP-Regional Command-7.

ABS-CBN's Hoy Gising! picked him as the Best Police Officer in 1991.

Prior to his stint as MCPO police director, he was the chief of the Regional Police Community Relations Division of the Police Regional Office-7. (FREEMAN)
