Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis "Chavit" Singson and his wife, Rachel "Che" Tiongson-S., dahlings, were every inch the pictures of proud parents as they welcomed their youngest child, Caitlin, into the Christian fold.

The memorable baptismal rites a new moon ago, palanggas, was attended, naturellement, by Caitlin’s siblings Chelsey, Charmaine, Christian and Christopher. Chavit played the gracious host to his gang and famille at the popular Via Mare in Tektite Bldg. in honor of the cutie angel of the Singson famille.

Beauty, rock and techno madness
Moi have often wondered how sounds as seemingly jarring as rock and techno can draw the most beautiful personas? To illustrate, take these couples, dahlings: Christine Brinkley and Billy Joel; Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall; and Rachel Hunter and Rod Stewart. Though they may have sung their last sweet music together, the romance between rock/techno music and beauty continues.

Even if that little illustration might sound a bit of a stretch, rock, techno and beauty do seem to make good music together in the Philippines. This was evident in the Freakshow Rock Concert, palanggas, hosted by the upbeat Pulp Magazine whose major sponsor was Lee USA. Dozens of models and some of Cosmo Manille’s super head turners showed up for the thrill of the ride.

Rocking with the rest of the pack at The Fort, palanggas, were the country’s chic set led by model Nancy Castilgione; NU 107’s top honcho Atom Henares; Mega’s stylist Anthony Polvorosa; Mega’s Lorraine Belmonte; young head turner Solenn Heusaff; hunk Illac Diaz; models Emille Espino, Joan de Mesa and Bianca Valerio; the past year’s Supermodel Philippines winner Marjay Ramirez and her Supermodel Philippines gang; and lots more who seemed to have joined the crowd of thousands just to get an earful of the rock and techno sounds.

Having a grand time were Lee USA president Wicky Siy; marketing manager Kristine Uy; and Epoy Arcino, the creative director who circulated with Sony Philippines’ Wally Chamsay; Warner Music’s Dean Ariola; Vic de Vera and Ricky Ilacad, the record company’s International regional marketing manager Curtis Louie; Amkor Technology president and general manager Mike Petrucci and vice president Mike Ellis; the tres chic Air France’s super top asset, cyber smart Therese Agnese and her husband, tres charmant Philippe Agnese; and Planet X general manager Cyrus Rapiñan.
Thai celebrations at Dusit Hotel
A momentous event, dahlings, was held at the tres elegant Grand Ballroom of–where else?–the super popular Dusit Hotel Nikko. The Royal Thai Embassy celebrated the National Day of Thailand and the 74th Birthday Anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand a full moon ago.

As expected, palanggas, the cocktail reception drew tons of Cosmo Manille hotshot personas, members of the nice Thai Community and their super special gang from the different embassies, and heavyweights from the travel industry and the corporate world.

Well-respected and admired Ambassador Lt. Ravee Hongsaprabhas, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Franklin Ebdalin and Russian Ambassador Anatoli Khmelnitski led the ceremonial toast of the bubbly to the King of Thailand.

Circulating with glass in hand, palanggas, were dashing former President Fidel Ramos; brilliant House Speaker Jose de Venecia; AFP Spokesperson Ediberto Adan; chairman of Phil-Thai Business Council and NFA administrator Antonio Abad; Royal Thai Consulate Roy Chiongbian; plus the attractive wives of Thai diplomatic officers who were garbed in traditional, elegant and colorful Thai dresses.

Swapping ideas were Ambassador Daniel Victoria, Ambassador Enrique Syquia of Malta, and other ASEAN ambassadors. Having a great time were old-wealth socialite Paz Yuchengco; Consul of Monaco Fortune Ledesma; observant author and columnist Beth Day Romulo; and that lady who had all eyes on her when she breezed around the ballroom, tall head turner Celia Cuasay.

Other hotshots were Ambassador Theo Arnold of Netherlands and his wife tall, exotic eye-catcher Kessara Arnold; Dusit Hotel’s brilliant and popular GM Chiyuki Fujimoto; Thai Airways’ well-loved GM, that charmer Chertchai Methanayanonda; PTT Phils., Inc.’s Thawansak Krapong; SCT’s Nakin Piyarom; CPAC Monier Phils. Inc.’s Suthep Lymsatitaporn; Fenca Products Corp.’s Amorn Jaratruansaeng; and Dusit Hotel’s tres classy purchasing manager Mantana de Leon.

Naturellement,
the smashingly successful event would not have been possible without the presence of the tres responsible, petite Kyun Apinya, Debbie Francisco and the rest of the Royal Thai Embassy rah! rah! staff.
Our equestrians at their best
There’s really nothing better than an intimate group of close pals getting together to celebrate a special happening, dahlings. Especially when they are pals who remain close regardless of time spent apart.

No one could be happier than beautiful equestrienne and actress, Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, palanggas, who has her hands full keeping house for her husband Dodot J. and sons Robbie and newborn Rafael besides tending to their beautiful home. This tres busy, busy lady is also training and competing rigorously to vie for a slot on the Philippine Equestrian Team that will compete in the Asian Games in Busan, Korea this October. She has been "short listed," we heard, which means she’s already got one foot in the stirrups!

To celebrate another beautiful year in Mikee’s already exciting life, adorable royallette Carissa Oledan Coscolluela hosted a casual dinner at one of the best Thai restos, the Benjarong of the swinging Dusit Hotel, for their gang. At the same time, it was a send-off for Mikee who is jetting off to Australia for a month to train under no less than Australian Olympian Vicky Roycroft.

Joining the fun dinner groupy was Carissa C.’s fave beau, super cause-oriented, sharp and smart lawyer Ferdie Hernandez, and naturellement, Mikee J.’s better half, Dodot, who breezed in apres a long day’s work at the Philippine Senate. Rounding out the group was vivaciously attractive, hip head turner Tina Tinio of Nation Broadcasting Corporation with her true love Lex Ledesma, and super handsome basketball star Vince Hizon.

It was crystal clear that this gang of pals, palanggas, are all excited about the upcoming Asian games. Carissa C., the secretary general of the Philippine Equestrian Federation, told moi, "It is all systems go for the riders and officials who will proudly represent the country. Besides Mikee, our very own top Olympian, Toni Leviste is off in Europe with another promising young equestrienne, Paola Zobel to compete in the Sunshine Tour, a premier showjumping event in Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain. Young Michelle Cojuangco Barrera is wowing all of Australia with her showjumping prowess by bagging title apres title, and will be joined in the summer by her cousin, Danielle Cojuangco who has been dazzling us at competitions here in Manille."

Good luck to all you plucky ladies of the horsey set!
