Manila Symphony Orchestra presents ‘Music for Christ: A Christmas Festival’

MANILA, Philippines - Celebrate the spirit of Christmas with the Manila Symphony Orchestra as play the music of the masters. 

On Dec. 12, Thursday at 7:30 p.m., the Manila Symphony Orchestra, in cooperation with Santuario de San Jose Parish, presents “Music for Christ: A Christmas Festival.” The concert features the works of the world’s great composers: Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel. The concert will also feature the music of Filipino composers Ryan Cayabyab and Ariel Arambulo. Soloists for the evening are Margarita Giannelli, soprano, and Chino Soberano, violin. Several musical groups will perform such as the Manila Symphony Orchestra, Greenhills Music Studio Ensemble, St. Paul University Manila Chorale, and many more.

The world-premiere performance of Arambulo’s Mi Patria Adorada for choir and orchestra is dedicated “In Memoriam: June Keithley-Castro (1947-2013)” — the Philippines’ 1986 EDSA People Power Hero who passed away on the Feast Day of Christ The King last Sunday, Nov. 24. Mi Patria Adorada will be sung by Keithley-Castro’s alma mater choir, The St.Paul University Manila Chorale under the direction of Sr. Ma. Anunciata Sta. Ana, SPC, and accompanied by the Manila Symphony Orchestra conducted by maestro Jose Arturo Molina. 

This concert will benefit relief efforts for Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) and the Casa Marello Home for the Aged Priests of Oblates of St. Joseph (OSJ), the holy order in charge of Santuario de San Jose Parish.

Proceeds from tickets bought at TicketWorld will go to Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts, while proceeds from tickets bought at Santuario de San Jose Parish Office will go to Casa Marello.
