Would you consider voting Gov. Ed Panlilio for President in 2010?

-

Alexander Raquepo, Ilocos Sur: I would consider voting for him. I think he has the passion to serve and a vision for a better Philippines. But passion and vision won’t work well without a well-oiled political party machinery.

Armando Tavera, Las Piñas City: I would only consider a candidate who knows the ins and outs of running the affairs of our country. Sorry, but I would not vote for Gov. Panlilio.

He is not competent enough

Rod Villar, Iriga City: I would never consider voting for him. He lacks the necessary ability and competence to govern the whole country. If he cannot perform substantially as governor of Pampanga, what can he do for to the whole country? I think he can more effectively serve the people as a priest rather than as a politician.

Ishmael Q. Calata, Parañaque City: I have much respect for a priest-on-leave, now a governor of Pampanga, but it is the whole country we must think about. He has not proven his worth in the political arena and his governance has yet to be shown as worthy for a national position.

Armie Caberoy, Bacolod City: I believe that being in government does not only entail passion for service. More than that, one should have enough competence and experience. It’s the whole country is at stake. Gov. Ed Panlilio, I think, does not have enough of the qualities needed to lead the nation. Besides, there are a lot of issues attached to his name. He should first clear these issues and prove his worth before taking a big leap in his political career.

Edwin Castillo, Tanauan City: No, as a priest, his primary duty is to serve God by attending to the spiritual needs of his people. Besides, he lacks managerial and administrative skills.

C.B. Fundales, Bulacan: I won’t even consider him for the Senate, what more the presidency? He lacks both qualification and experience, but his vision may work for sainthood.

Manuel Abejero, Pangasinan: Gov. Panlilio won in Pampanga, the result of the recount notwithstanding. But at the rate he is running Pampanga, I shudder at the thought of RP having a Pres. Panlilio.

Nony de Leon, Malolos City: Gov. Panlilio is outside my radar as president. Only those who will present concrete and doable goals should be considered worthy of election.

Guided by the Holy Spirit

Nap Cinco, Rizal: Yes and why not? After all, aren’t we looking for a leader rich in spirit, just like our savior?

Germi C. Sison, Cabanatuan City: Gov. Panlilio, a clergy with the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit, is the man of the hour who can miraculously bring back our lost spiritual value and deliver us from debilitating immorality. I will campaign and vote for him for president in 2010.

Romeo Nabong II, Saudi Arabia: I am no admirer of Gov. Ed Panlilio, but why not consider him? If we can elect a school dropout, why not a former priest? Fear of God is the one lacking in most politicians today that is why evildoings in the government have been a way of life of many politicians.

Joseph Fagel, Metro Manila: The Philippines needs a truly God-fearing leader; someone who would really seek Divine guidance before any decision. Yes, I would consider Fr. Panlilio for President!

Germi C. Sison Cabanatuan City: My first choice then was Vice Pres. de Castro as he is not prone to corruption but he has enough sense to distinguish what is good and evil. Then some well-meaning people tapped a morally upright CJ Puno but he decisively declined. Now, here comes a clergy who is willing to sacrifice his priesthood for the greater glory of the Lord. Gov. Panlilio is God-sent to prevent dirty politicians and hypocrite self-anointed messengers of God from pushing our nation deeper into the quagmire of evil forces. I will vote for Gov. Panlilio for President in 2010.

Dennis Acop, Baguio City: Yes, I would. To God alone be the glory always.

I’ll pray about it

Renato Taylan, Ilocos Norte: Being a man of God, why not? But I have to go into deep meditation first to sense if there’s any truth to his claim that God wants him to run for president.

He should go back to the priesthood

Joe Nacilla, Las Piñas City: Is his short stay as governor enough experience to lead the entire country? Can we consider him a man of God who has said, “I give up the priesthood for a greater love  love of country!” Is country greater than God?

Vic Sanchez, Pasig City: I will not vote for Ed Panlilio because he lacks the managerial skills and administrative abilities necessary to be an effective leader. Moreover, his integrity was put on the spot when he did not return the P500,000 given to him by PGMA. My friendly advice to him is to return to the priesthood, tend to his flock, and deliver meaningful homilies. Be a priest again before you are completely devoured by dirty politics.

Wenceslao Calma, Bataan: No, I won’t vote for Gov. Panlilio, because he cannot even govern Pampanga, what more the whole Philippines? He should go back to the priesthood.

Vir Lauzon, Gen. Santos City: No, Fr. Panlilio is a non-performing asset. He should stay at the pulpit.

L.C. Fiel, Quezon City: No, I hope he realizes that politics is not meant for him. He should go back to his original vocation because it is where he is badly needed.

Dave Velasco, Marinduque: Gov. Panlilio wants to have everything in this material world  a vocation in worldly and clerical duties. Politics should be left to politicians, as priesthood to priests.

Joana Rizza Bagano, Benguet: No, I wish he never entered the chaotic world of politics. He should have focused more on what he was doing prior to his election as governor. Priests are a far cry from politicians.

Merlino Quinsay, Ilocos Sur: No, he should go back to the priesthood. We need more priests, not politicians.

Marby Murillo, Metro Manila: I don’t think I would consider voting for Gov. Ed Panlilio as president in 2010. I do believe that he is an upright individual, but I am afraid to say that he might gain enemies that can destroy his life as a religious person. I advise him to just focus more on spiritual activities and inspire people to get closer to God.

Jupi Arevalo, Marinduque: Of course not. Just a piece of advice for him: Preach and spread the word of God; it’s your calling.

Leonard Villa, Batac City: Not in my wildest dreams. I don’t trust a priest who becomes a politician. It’s better for Fr. Panlilio to go back to the priesthood where he rightfully belongs.

Sahlee Reyes, Las Piñas City: I have some reservations from way back when the P500,000 in grease money was distributed in Malacañang. I was taken aback and disconcerted why it took Gov. Panlilio a while to return it. If he had a resolute heart of integrity as a man of God, he would have handed it back at the very instant it was stealthily given to him at the Palace. If you ask me, Gov. Panlilio would be better off just serving God in church.

He should run for governor

Lucas Banzon Madamba II, Laguna: I will vote for a presidential candidate who can honestly and efficiently lead the country towards prosperity. I will vote for one who can represent the country in national and international affairs. I will vote for a candidate who can uplift the country from poverty. Ed Panlilio is not my choice for president. He should just run for governor again or just return to the private sector.

He can’t even run the affairs of Pampanga

Juan Deveraturda, Subic, Zambales: Why should I and the people vote for him when he can’t even effectively and efficiently run the affairs of the province of Pampanga? There are more and bigger problems on the national lecel that require much more competence. That definitely is not Gov. Panlilio. The former priest should run for governor again in Pampanga for him to know whether his provincemates would still support him.

Rose Leobrera, Manila: I am not out of my mind to vote for one who cannot even serve his native Pampanga. As it is, he is already incapacitated as a leader in a small province. What can he do if it’s already the country at stake? I am at a loss as to what makes Fr. Ed think he could win the presidential elections. He could not even win the support of the Catholic Church.

Fortunato Aguirre, Bulacan: No, I will never vote for Among Ed. I’m afraid he will bring chaos to the country, like he did to Pampanga.

Val Mindaro, Santiago City: He cannot even unite Pampanga.

Narciso Alano, Cabanatuan City: No, I will not vote for him. His governance in Pampanga is in shambles. The vote recount is in the offing.

C.B. Manalastas, Manila: No way; tell that to his blind believers. As governor, what has he done to improve the lives of his cabalens?

William Gonzaga, Marikina City: If Among Ed’s performance as Pampanga’s governor will be the gauge, I will not waste my vote on him as president.

He will keep his covenant with the people

Lolong Rejano, Marinduque: Whoever among the male candidates can make a covenant with the people upon filing his candidacy will be my choice. I believe Fr. Ed Panlilio can do this, and that he can be a good president of our country. I will not only vote for him but help him campaign as well.

Why not, for a change?

Lydia Reyes, Bataan: I want to be positive this time. Why not, if Among Ed can change this country for the better?

Ella Arenas, Pangasinan: Why not? Among the presidentiables, I think he is my best bet, not only because he is a priest. At least may konsensya pa rin siya. I just hope he makes good his promises and helps uplift our country.

Jae Delos Santos, Muntinlupa City: As an ex-seminarian, I’d say yes for a change.

Romeo Coloma, Ilocos Norte: For a change, why not? We’ve already had an ordinary housewife as President. We’ve also had an economist, an actor, generals and a lot of bar topnotchers. But then, look what is happening to our beloved Philippines. It’s like a sinking ship. Suntok sa buwan, but it’s like choosing the lesser evil.

Voltaire Beniga, Surigao del Norte: I will definitely vote and support Among Ed for president. Now is the time for a righteous and humble man to lead our country. Let’s go for him.

H. Gumban, Bacolod City: If he has the power to stop the crisis, why not? It would be a great help to us if the crisis will stop and if he could prove to us that he’s different from other contenders.

Among Ed is the least evil

J.R. Mondonedo Jr., Parañaque City: Let me put it this way. I would vote for any future president who is a lesser evil compared to the rest.

Gerii Calupitan, Muntinlupa City: Among Ed is the least evil among all the presidentiables, so I’d rather vote for him instead. Though I don’t believe that God talked Among Ed into running in 2010, I still believe that he is more credible than most politicians; even at par with BF and Noli in terms of action. As a Buddhist bred in Catholic schools, I’d only vote for him if my choice changes next year.

We won’t improve under him

Ed Alawi, Davao City: No, under him, we’ll be the poorest of the poor and he’ll pontificate that it’s God’s will.

Ferdinand Rafer, Cavite: No, if he’s going to emulate Bro. Ed Villanueva who said he will run because it’s God’s will, he’s sure to lose. He’s just overrated because of media.

Ricardo Tolentino, Laoag City: I will not vote for governor Panlilio for his layman and pro-life upbringing will be a disadvantage in bringing about drastic change in our chaotic country.

Rex Earlou Calmerin, Iligan City: No, he will gain more enemies and receive more negative ratings than Pres. Arroyo and her cohorts if he wins.

He’s nothing more than a nuisance candidate

Jim Veneracion, Naga City: The truth of the matter is, I’ll consider Fr. Ed a nuisance candidate. Whoever is behind him is out of touch with reality. Even Arch. Cruz disowns him.

Dave Velasco, Marinduque: No, because if Gov. Panlilio violated his vows before God, how much more the simple laws of men?

Edgar Artates, Parañaque City: Not even in my dreams. Ano ako, hilo?

What does he have to offer?

Dennis Montealto, Mandaluyong City: I have not thought about voting for him, or anybody else for that matter. I have yet to see what they have in store for the country and the Filipino people.

Felix Ramento, Manila: What has Gov. Ed Panlilio got to offer to deserve my vote? In the first place, he’s not even supposed to be in the politics.

Aldo Apostol, Quezon City: I need to hear his aspirations for our country, especially in the area of servant leadership as he is a servant of God. In the first place, there will be lots of candidates and choosing would be tough. That’s why candidates should be able the answer the question: Why should we vote for you as the next President of the Philippines?

A waste of time and vote

Nick Ocampo, Angeles City : Voting for Gov. Ed Panlilio for president in 2010 is only a waste of time and votes. God never wants his sheep to run for politics.

Lorenzo Fernandez Jr., Cabanatuan City: Yes, I would even campaign for him. But the problem is, I’m afraid that my vote would only be wasted. I just want to be inside my house monitoring the election results.

Pedro Alagano Sr., Vigan City: No, I’d rather give him my unsolicited advice to undergo anticipated trauma therapy to preclude severe and fatal stress due to a sure defeat. If Fr. Ed Panlilio, Bro. Eddie Villanueva and Mike Velarde are only the presidential bets, I’ll vote for the former. Otherwise, bokya sa akin.

Jose Fabello Jr., Cagayan de Oro City: The mere act of accepting the brown bag tells me he won’t be any different from all the rest. A vote for him is a wasted vote.

He’s too naïve about politics

Rodolfo Talledo, Angeles City: No way, he’s too naive about how politics works. You can’t accomplish anything substantial by just invoking the name of God and doing nothing.

Johann Lucas, Quezon City: No, it’s too soon for him to run as president. Besides, serving God and being a politician isn’t a good idea. In politics, you have to compromise most of the time.

J. Ocampo, Metro Manila: Voting for Ed Panlilio as Philippine president is out of the question. Good intentions do not a good leader make. Ask Cory Aquino. I say this with full respect for Cory’s and Fr. Ed’s good character. But let’s call a spade a spade, please. Let’s not get carried away by impractical idealism.

John Canto, Metro Manila: No, unless he renounces his priestly vows. He offers the common people a confused presidency. He wouldn’t even know when to use his left or right hand and we will choose to him to lead us out of this rut? Come on people, wake up. Pray for God’s guidance and not stray a preacher into the realm of politics.

Yes, to do away with trapos for once

Col. Ben Paguirigan Jr., Ret., Zamboanga City: Yes, I would consider voting for Fr. Panlilio for president in 2010 if he represents a united opposition as the sole candidate against a PGMA robot.

Ricardo Encomienda, Nueva Ecija: I would vote for Gov. Ed Panlilio for president in 2010 to do away with trapos if only for once.

Zella Mananap, Bacolod City: If he can prove that he is worthy of the position, why not? If he has all the good intentions for running, then voting him for president would not be a problem.

Anita Ong, Dumaguete City: Definitely, I’d vote for Gov. Panlilio. He is no trapo. At least, he tried to curb corruption in Pampanga. He has increased collections from sand quarrying. Congrats to Kapampangans because they have Panlilio! I’m not sure if Panlilio can come to Dumaguete to campaign since he lacks the money and machinery. But for sure, I’ll volunteer to campaign for him here in Dumaguete.

Glen Reyes, Quezon City: Yes, he was able to uncover anomalies under the Lapid administration and fix the problems of his province especially corruption.

Ric Vergara, Calamba City: Whoever is his opponents except Bayani Fernando, I will vote Panlilio. Sa kanya na ako makikipagsapalaran!

Elizabeth Oximer, Negros Occidental: Hmmmm... Pwede na rin kung siya lang ang nagiisang opposition candidate.

He’s drunk with political power

Rowena Remiendo, Quezon City: Definitely not. I’m sorry, but I don’t have any trust in him. Actually, his words nowadays regarding his presidential candidacy show that he’s drunk with political power.

Dino Monzon, Caloocan City: No way, Gov. Panlilio is a political neophyte whose ambitions and ego are larger than his talent. Claiming that God gave his okay shows that he’s naive.

Cris Rivera, Rizal: Gov. Panlilio, a priest turned politician, is bewildered about what he really wants in life.

How will he solve our problems?

Ruel Bautista, Laguna: When you ask a priest for a solution to a problem, he’ll say, pray more. Based on his training, how do you think Panlilio will solve our country’s problem?

Luisito Vallo, Pangasinan: No way, Jose. I don’t think he’s qualified to run the affairs of the country. News about his inefficiencies as governor is no joke. I’d rather vote for BF, my No.1 bet for president.

Josh Pacatang, Dipolog City: We, in this part of the country, are not quite ready for a brown and white-spotted cleric in Fr. Eduardo Panlilio as president in Mindanao. How? How?

If God tells me to do so

Jovic Corpuz, Pangasinan: If God tells me to do so, the way he told Noah to build an ark, I will vote for him and his entire ticket! I’ll even volunteer to join his campaign.

Norberto Robles, Taguig: It’s seems that Panlilio is another one of those who can hear God’s voice in their heads. But if he could sprout wings and make a halo appear over his head, I’ll vote for him.

Erwin Espinosa, Pangasinan: What for? Para magpauto kay Among Ed at sasabihin ko ring God wants me to vote for Ed Panlilio in 2010? Baloney.

Not now, not as president

Jimmy Donton, Puerto Princesa City: I have never thought of voting for him as presidential candidate in 2010 ever since, but if he runs for as congressman or senator, he has my vote.
