The new year rolls in with the Taurus moon’s methodical, patient, determined energy. Your resolutions won’t happen overnight, but they will be accomplished with daily attention. Today is the first day of establishing habits that can be continued all year. The sun’s Capricorn energy beautifully supports other aspects grounding us in responsibility.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You recognize the start of something big. Learn the lingo necessary to join into a new, fascinating world. Steer clear of confrontation, as your mood is potentially volatile. What makes you feel attractive makes you look attractive.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Practical modes of thinking are just fine, but only true if you believe them. If you, however, do actually think that a fairy godmother could appear on the scene to save you, that might happen as well!

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Those whose job it is to lead may get sloppy, expecting you to be totally self-directed. That’s fine if you know what you’re doing, but today’s tasks are new! If you don’t understand, ask.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You’ll be rewarded for your important involvement on two fronts. At home, you and a partner blend together your dreams and discover way to finance shared aspirations. At work, you get the team together to hash out problems.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (January 1). Imagination furthers you in love and business this year. This month, much happens to open your heart, and for many, new love comes in. ASTROLOGICAL SPECIAL: DESIGN YOUR BEDROOM! Not long ago, I wrote about using astrology to energize one’s home, but apparently, readers didn’t get enough! They have asked for more ways to tap into astrology to make their homes – especially their bedrooms – more comfortable and more exciting. Scorpio is the ideal influence for a sexy bedroom. It is the sign that governs passion, so inviting its energy into your bedroom practically ensures the satisfaction of your desire. Invoke Scorpio with crimson hues – burgundy, maroon, scarlet – on the wall, in your bedding, in your drapes or at the very least as accent colors. Topaz is Scorpio’s favorite stone. Keep one in the nightstand. Scorpio energy is attracted to bushy trees. A well-tended bonsai is ideal. Moroccan and Tahitian influences invite Scorpio to rule the bedroom, as do gothic influences and anything from New Orleans. Scorpio is the sign of secrets, and anything hidden in the bedroom attracts Scorpio energy. This includes a token under the mattress, a locked box under the bed, a hidden door in the closet, and so on. Dim lighting allows Scorpio energy to rule the other senses. Scorpio is more about feeling than seeing anyway.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Verne Troyer plays Mini-Me in the popular Austin Powers series. This determined Capricorn declared at a young age that he would be a megastar and has achieved that recognizable status. Capricorn is the sign of the goat that climbs to the highest point. With incredible drive, this sign can overturn any obstacle. Troyer could buy a mall this year with his earnings as an actor and make a killing!
