Palace declares holiday for BARMM election

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos has declared Sept. 14 a special non-working day in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to allow residents to cast their votes in the first-ever BARMM parliamentary election.
The holiday declaration is contained in Proclamation 1395 signed on Tuesday by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto by the authority of President Marcos.
Earlier, Marcos signed Republic Act 12317, resetting the first regular elections in BARMM to the second Monday of September this year.
Aside from the BARMM, Malacañang also declared special non-working holidays in each municipality in Cagayan, Quezon province and Sultan Kudarat to allow residents to participate in local celebrations and festivities.
Proclamation 1391 states that Aug. 26 is a holiday in Buenavista, Quezon for the town’s founding anniversary.
Proclamation 1393 declared Aug. 27 a special non-working day in Alcala, Cagayan for the celebration of the Pasayak Festival.
Meanwhile, Proclamation 1394 declared Aug. 28 a special non-working day in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, in lieu of Aug. 30, which falls on a Sunday.
Isulan will celebrate its founding anniversary and the Hamungaya Festival.
