Man shot dead in Argao

CEBU, Philippines — A 39-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound inside their residence in Upper Ticoy, Barangay Bogo, Argao, Cebu, on Tuesday evening, Aug. 18, 2026.

The victim, identified by the alias “Joseph,” was discovered by his 32-year-old live-in partner, “Edna,” at around 6:45 p.m.

Both were residents of the area.

According to the initial police investigation and Edna’s statement, she was at their home preparing dinner when she went to the kitchen to get rice.

When she returned, she found Joseph lying on the ground and unresponsive. She immediately sought help from rescue responders.

The Argao Municipal Police Station received a report from Bogo Barangay Captain Edgar Famat regarding the incident and dispatched police officers and rescue personnel to the area.

When responders arrived, Joseph was being attended to by personnel from Argao Rescue. He was brought to the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital for medical attention but was declared dead by the attending physician.

Police later determined that Joseph had sustained a gunshot wound.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including how the victim was shot and who may have been responsible, remain unclear. The Argao police are continuing their investigation into the incident. — /FPL (FREEMAN)
