Mayor of San Pablo, Laguna denies suspension rumor

LAGUNA, Philippines — San Pablo City Mayor Arcadio Gapangada Jr. yesterday denied that the Office of the Ombudsman has ordered his suspension as news about it spread on social media.
“They filed a complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman on June 26, and within one week, there was already a resolution issued, on July 3? We have not received any notice of suspension or whatever document,” Gapangada told The STAR in an interview.
Gapangada dismissed the alleged order as fake news and blamed his rival, Vice Mayor Justin Colago, for the “diversionary tactic.”
According to Gapangada, he filed a complaint against Colago on April 29 before the ombudsman, alleging there were 200 ghost employees in the vice mayor’s office. The anti-graft agency has yet to resolve the case.
