MANILA, Philippines — Thirteen Filipino seafarers returned to the Philippines on Friday after projectiles hit their ship MSC Sariska V while departing Iraq on June 1.

According to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the shipowner, manning agency and the Philippine embassy in Iraq facilitated the repatriation.

Upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1, the seafarers underwent medical evaluations and received financial aid as well as transportation arrangements.

Hotel accommodations were provided by the manning agency.

Representatives from the DMW, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Manila International Airport Authority welcomed the seafarers at the airport.
