DOT kicks off farm, wellness circuit promotion in Siquijor
CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT-7) has kicked off the development of farm and wellness circuit promotion in the province of Siquijor.
DOT-7 led by regional director Shalimar Tamano recently held a Resource Validation and Audio-Video Documentation of the Farm, Fork, Fitness: A Mountain to Sea Circuit to Wellness in the mystical island province of Siquijor.
Farm-Fork-Fitness ultimately aims to provide more options for visitors to experience the mountain-to-coastal terrain of these Central Visayas destinations.
The program aims enhance the value of farm, culinary and wellness tourism as one full experience.
With the ongoing threat of COVID-19, the region’s tourism sector continues to keep its luster, backed by support from the government through DOT.
This new promotional campaign, which highlights health and wellness attractions, also aims to lure families as well as young and fitness buffs.
Aside from Farm, Fork and Fitness; other upcoming projects and activities Cultural Tourism: Filipino Martial Arts Heritage Caravan; Regional Dive Development Program which includes dives and visits in Moalboal, Panglao, Malapascua, Dauin, Lapu-Lapu City, Alegria, Samboan and Santander; Central Visayas ecotourism loop in the nine protected areas in the region; and alfresco taste and tour circuits.
In an earlier webinar, DOT secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat expressed full support on the development of Al Fresco dining circuit program in Cebu and other destinations in Central Visayas by identifying establishments that will be part of the development of Al Fresco Taste and Tour Circuits.
While expressed confidence that the ramping up of vaccination roll out in other countries signify the near recovery of international arrivals to the Philippines, she said the country is determined to revitalize its tourism industry by activating domestic travel.
“We must do all we can to bring forth recovery,” Puyat called Cebuano tourism stakeholders to work with the government closely and help establish strong confidence to travel among Filipinos.
