MANILA, Philippines - The Davao International Airport may resume its operations Tuesday night as the stalled plane of Cebu Pacific is finally set to be removed, the airline assured.
"The aircraft is expected to be removed from the runway and towed to the terminal, paving the way for the resumption of the Davao Airport operations any time tonight," Cebu Pacific said in its Twitter account.
The extraction of the aircraft was conducted by Cebu Pacific and the Singapore Airlines Engineering Company, under the supervision of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
The agency earlier gave the company a 3 p.m. deadline to extract the aircraft from the runway.
CAAP Director General John Andrews said in a press briefing that initial findings point out pilot error as the likely cause of the plane mishap.
"There is a saying that evidence does not lie. We have now evidence that points to possible human factor. In other words, [it] may be pilot error," he said.
He added that these findings will be confirmed later on when the plane's flight data recorder is sent to Singapore for investigation.
"I am definite that these findings will support statements that I have previously made," Andrews said.
