Nitoy Mallillin’s album of ’70s hits out

MANILA, Philippines - ’70s Superband drummer Nitoy Mallillin (photo), adjudged Best Drummer and Best Actor of Shakey’s Taft- Battle of the Bands in the early ‘80s, showcases his vocal talents in his debut album, Happy, distributed by Ivory Records.

The album takes you to a trip down memory lane with Boyfriends hit songs like Oras oras, Bistado Na Kita, a medley of Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal, Ngumingiti-Ngiti, a Jun Mallillin original composition and other Abrakadabra songs like Pagputi ng Uwak.

Nitoy delivers these songs, with new, upbeat arrangements, in his signature falsetto singing style.

The Happy MTV, which is now on YouTube, features Dianne Medina,  Louanne de Lima and  professional model Alyssa Lagahino.

You can also listen to the songs in Spotify, iTunes, Amazon and Deezer, by just clicking Happy Album and artist Nitoy Mallillin

Nitoy started out in the music scene as the drummer of OctoArts’ Boyfriends band in the ‘70s. He and brothers Alex and Jun Mallillin, composer of Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal and Dahil Mahal Kita, were part of the Abrakadabra rock band, for which Nitoy played the drums.

As ’70s Superband drummer, Nitoy joined fellow members Nonoy Tan (formerly of Wadab band), Snaffu Rigor (Cinderella), Monet Gaskell (VST & Company), Mon Espia (Labuyo), Rey Magtoto (Wadab) and Jun in three successful London tours.

The band has been invited to return there next year.

Nitoy owns Mallillin Music Production (MMP), which deals with events management, sounds and lights rental and concert production.

MMP caters to corporate events, weddings and parties and supplies sounds and lights systems to SM malls (Southmall, Las Piñas and BF Homes), among others.

Nitoy’s children are musicians as well. Tim, the eldest, is former bassist of Comedy Bar. Nitoy’s daughter Tiffany is a vocal artist in Hong Kong Disneyland, while the youngest, JR, is Paolo Valenciano’s keyboardist.
