Shaking, rattling & rolling through 15 years

MANILA, Philippines - Lovi Poe, Erich Gonzales and Carla Abellana headline the three episodes of the biggest, scariest and most expensive Shake, Rattle & Roll (SRR) installment yet, Shake, Rattle & Roll XV.

Lovi is the female lead in the Flight 666 episode from the direction of Perci Intalan; Erich, meanwhile, is cast in Dondon Santos’ Ahas, while Carla topbills the Ulam episode by Jerrold Tarog.

The three episodes are all-original stories from Regal Entertainment, Inc., whose Yuletide offerings are always a welcome treat to families and film enthusiasts.

On and off-cam, the trilogy speaks of horrifying and spine-chilling stories. Lovi, for one, had an uneasy time shooting her scenes inside the plane in Flight 666, especially when it involved the monstrous creature that is supposed to attack each and every passenger.

“I couldn’t look at it! Napapapikit ako kapag sinalakay ako. I got nauseous from all the screaming and running. Although I knew it was props only, still the creature really made me scream. I’ve done many horror films, fighting off different creatures, but this one in Flight 666, ewan ko…Nakakabaliw ang hitsura,” recalled Lovi.

Erich, on the other hand, is made to deal with a huge and fierce snake in the Ahas episode. Almost 90 ft. long, the actress had a difficult time putting on snakeskin prosthetics.

This is Erich’s first time to be in a Shake, Rattle & Roll episode and she feels honored that Mother Lily Monteverde and daughter Roselle chose her for the project. This is also her first movie with Regal Films.

“Five hours na idinidikit sa balat ko ang parang snakeskin. Yes, it was tough, but my role was also very challenging. It wasn’t only physically demanding but emotionally draining as well. Abangan nila ’yung komprontasyon ng dalawang Erich. I’m really honored to topbill this episode because I’m also a fan of SRR,” Erich related.

On TV, Erich is currently drawing raves for her acting in the Kapamilya teleserye Two Wives.

Last but not the least, Carla is easily considered as a Jerrold Tarog baby.

She and direk Jerrold first worked together in the SRRXII episode Punerarya a few years ago. Carla even won Best New Actress for her performance in Punerarya.

This time, the actress is reunited not just with direk Jerrold but with My Husband’s Lover co-star Dennis Trillo as well in the Ulam episode. “Ilang beses na tumayo ang balahibo ko kapag dumarating ako sa set. I just prayed and prayed that I won’t be affected,” Carla said.

On Dec. 25 during the Metro Manila Film Festival 2014, be sure to catch Shake, Rattle & Roll XV.
