MANILA, Philippines — After a respite from the effects of the southwest monsoon, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is working overtime to repair roads in Metro Manila that were damaged by heavy rains and flooding.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said the rushed repair works include those at E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue, Luzon Avenue flyover, Mindanao Avenue, Quezon Avenue bridge and EDSA Santolan flyover in Quezon City.

Also undergoing repairs are M.H. Del Pilar Street in Malabon; Taft Avenue and Plaza Cervantes in Binondo, Manila; Macapagal Boulevard, Roxas Boulevard and Spine Road in Pasay; C5 Kalayaan Avenue in Taguig and MacArthur Highway in Valenzuela.

The DPWH was criticized after potholes emerged at the EDSA Busway in Makati, which had just undergone rehabilitation.

Dizon said he is open to an investigation of the EDSA rehabilitation project, as he noted the damage was caused by the recent flooding in Metro Manila.
