Badian to host Cebu Province Football Cup

CEBU, Philippines — The Municipality of Badian, southern town of Cebu will host the 449th Cebu Province Founding Anniversary Invitational Football Cup on August 17 to 19 at the Badian National High School football field.

Organized by the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC), the 7-aside football tournament  features the men's and women's open and boys under-18 class.

Tournament director Eleazar “Elying” Toledo said that this is the first time for Badian to host a football festival and the goal of the tournament is to promote the sport in the province and at the same time, showcase the beauty of the game to the youth.

There are already six squads who have confirmed their participation in the boys' 18-Under, 16 in the men's open and three teams in the women's open.

The teams will be divided into brackets and will play a single round robin elimination format to determine the team standing. The top two teams in each bracket will advance to the semifinals.

Trophies, medals, freebies and overnight accomodations await the winners in each division.
