Happy New Year 2016!

Allan Choachoy - The Freeman

New Year, New You, New Goal!

In 2016 set some realistic goals like losing weight, quit smoking, stop drinking, eat healthy, run faster, save money, sleep early and others.

But majority fails on their goals simply because they don't do it. It’s a Filipino culture of Mañana Habit.

Success usually depends on your support group or friends.

Support group may help you but sometime it causes your failure as each person has different priorities in life. Some may want to feast after each exercise; some may be blinded by love, while some just don't know how to control its limit in terms of expenditure like using credit card to get the latest gadget, smart phones etc.

First of all your support group should have the same passion and goal in life like you, that is why we need to know who your friends really are.

I may sound negative but ugly truth is that there are friends that are “USER FRIENDLY” which refers to a person that gets in touch with you only when he or she needs something. Then there are the FREE rider or Mr. FREEBIE;  these guys make friends only because he or she treats, spends or donates every time when there is an outing or food trip.

Next is the ASKHOLE: Friends who asked and asked for advice but never follows any of them. Sorry, but these kind of friends only tell you what you want to hear and deny you of the reality.

To get a bigger picture, step back and look at it from different angles. Draw up deadlines and strategy on how to accomplish if you can't control on saving your money, one drastic effort is to stop using your credit card.

If losing weight is your goal then buy jeans or dress that you want to fit in to and if you want to get fit then eat healthy foods.  Check out what are the diseases often caused by being overweight and obesity. Same goes in trying to quit smoking.

If you want to run faster, then my advice is to join a running club or get a coach that could guide you on your progress. The amount you spend in getting a coach maybe cheaper than the injury you might get from running on your own.

We say that we need lots of motivation, hardwork and discipline but the hardest part is staying FOCUS, once you lose then you will fail. The motivation stays as a motivation unless you can actually do it.

That’s why your support group is very important as it keeps you in track on what you are doing.

Realistically most the goals or New Year’s resolution made are already 10 to 15 years overdue and some may have the same resolution over and over again.

I am not perfect but I always been honest and frank with everything.

I believe that you must prepare for the worst and hope for the best, push yourself because no one will do it for you. Do it now and don't postpone it for tomorrow because tomorrow becomes a week, week turns into month then a year and the next thing we know its 2017!

Have a joyous New Year! And leave the past behind and accomplished your goals for 2016 that was set in 2015.  Just do it now because sometimes LATER becomes NEVER!

Sideline: Good luck to Metafit 42km group Fritz and Zuzette Co, PJ Canedo and Donafel Tacandong and yours truly and the 21km group of Sarah Lucero, Liezel Balbuena and Michael Manabat.
