Alaska Basketball Power Camp unfurls today

CEBU, Philippines - Over a hundred young aspiring hoopsters hope to further sharpen their skills as the Alaska Basketball Power Camp 2015 gets underway this afternoon at the Don Bosco Technology Center gym in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City.

No less than Cebuano PBA superstar Dondon Hontiveros will grace the opening bash scheduled at 1 p.m.

The organizers will be accepting on-site registration starting at 11 a.m. Those who are interested to join though are advised to enlist early as slots are limited to only 125 on a first-come, first-served basis.

Aside from imparting the fundamentals of the sport, Hontiveros and his band of coaches that include Stephen Padilla, Reggie Licanda, Mario Suarez, Rey de la Victoria, Ian Brigoli, Vince Escobido and Leo Casinillo will also teach the campers on how to become champions on and off the court.

Open to both boys and girls aged seven to 18 years old, the training sessions are set on October 31 and November 3 at DBTC, the beloved alma mater of Hontiveros during his high school days.

The rest of the extensive training camp will be held at the University of San Jose-Recoletos Basak Campus on November 8, 15, 22 and 29 and on December 6, 13 and 20.

Entry fee is pegged at P2,500 inclusive of an Alaska t-shirt, training jersey and basketball signed by all players of the Alaska Aces in the PBA.

The basketball power camp promotes Alaska’s belief that sports play an important role in instilling positive values among the youth including discipline, hard work, teamwork and determination.
