Dynamic Power forges rubbermatch in SHAABAA

EBV - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Dynamic Power lashed back at RDAK Transporters, 54-51, to forge a rubbermatch in their best-of-three finals for the Division B crown of the 20th Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Association (SHAABAA) Cup last Wednesday night at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu old campus gym along General Maxilom Avenue, this city.

Walter Ong nailed 12 markers, while Rodrick Mangubat and Melvin Tan connived for 17 points for Dynamic Power, which capitalized on a steady offensive in the middle quarters to turn the tables on the Transporters.

The two sides will again clash for the coveted championship this Sunday.

In Division A games, defending champion Petron Goldberry assured itselt of the finals berth after prevailing over the Cebu Landmasters, 65-61, while the RDAK Stallions stayed alive following a 62-40 rout of Bayfront Hotel.

Leigh Dixon, Dave Ting and Ed Macasling conspired for 41 points for Petron Goldberry, which was in complete command after racing to a 20-9 start.

The Cebu Landmasters closed the match with a 26-13 bang but Petron Goldberry has already piled up enough points to escape with a four-point victory.

Mocrief Rogado scored 19 and Kyle Valmoria fired 17 points but to no avail as the Cebu Landmasters stumbled to its second straight loss.

On the other hand, Jair Igna paced the RDAK Stallions with 16 points followed by Arvid Jasong Ong with 12 points. They never gave Bayfront Hotel any breathing pace after posting a huge 40-20 lead at halftime. (FREEMAN)
