St. Ignatius Run backs GK Village

CEBU, Philippines - The St. Ignatius Run 2012 will benefit the upcoming Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu GK Village, an outreach project partnership between the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Alumni Association (SHS-AAA) and Gawad Kalinga.

This was revealed by St. Ignatius Run Chairman Marcelino Co who also called on all running enthusiasts to join the run to raise funds for social projects.

“We are inviting all runners to join the run and have the opportunity to provide homes for the lesser fortunate through the SHS-Ateneo de Cebu Village and Gawad Kalinga. The run is not exclusive for the Ateneo community,” Co said.

The run takes place on July 28 at the Insular Square in Mandaue City and features three distances — 3K, 6K and 16K.

The 16k and 6K are open categories offering P8,000 for the 16K winner and P2,500 for the 6K winner. The top ten of each distance category will receive cash prizes.

Meanwhile, the 3K category is for the SHS-Ateneo de Cebu community composed of students, staff/faculty alumni and parents. A team alumni event is also included in the 6K run where a group of four alumni runners can team up in a four-to-run, three-to-count race. At least three runners must start and finish the 6K distance together as a team.

Insular Square and Angelicum Garden have teamed up to support the run that seeks to raise funds for the social projects of the SHS-AAA. The run is also backed up by Pocari Sweat, A&E Blocks Supplies, Beaver Sandals, Alcordo Advertising, Powerade, Sunsport, Skygo, Viva Mineral Water, King’s Quality Foods, Ellips, Cignal, Gatsby, Kaffee Alde,  Soyah Soy Milk, Echo Savers Appliance, San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation and RUNNR.
