Tiangehan spikers claim two crowns in Sambag I
CEBU, Philippines - Team Tiangehan spikers bagged the men and women’s titles in the 2nd Sambag 1 Summer League Volleyball tournament 2010 over the weekend.
Tiangehan belles had to pass through a four-set thriller before thrashing equally tough Sitio Pailub, 25-21, 20-25, 25-21, 26-24.
Tiangehan’s victory was courtesy of the exemplary performances of former Nestea beach volleyball champions, Florian Gutierrez and Erika Camille Verano along with Jessa Satina.
Sitio Pailub was composed of University of San Carlos mainstays, El Margie Montejo, Mangellica Villaflores, Richelle Doroon, Rachel Cumba and Kate Pineda.
Sitio Laguna secured the third place after trouncing Team Guardo, 25-21, 26-24, 25-23.
In the men’s bracket, Sitio Tiangehan pummeled Lower Kawayan in straight sets, 25-20, 25-18, 25-19.
The triumvirate of Van Gutierrez, Kevin Labay and Mark Kevin Datig spearheaded Tiangehan’s triumph.
Team Pailub, on the other hand, had an easy third place finish via default.
The 2nd Sambag 1 Summer League Volleyball tournament was organized by barangay Captain Jerry Guardo and tournament director Thelma Paras-Datig. – THE FREEMAN
