CEBU, Philippines - After ruling several legs in the G-League series in some areas in the Visayas, the supremacy of Team Cebu City-Blue Marlin Swimming Club will further be tested as they vie for top honors in the G-League Short Course National Championships in Los Baños, Laguna today.

Coach Rolando Alvarez handpicked 16 promising tankers to represent the Queen City of the South for the four-day tilt, which is the culmination of all provincial legs in this Philippine Amateur Swimming Association-organized event.

Cebu’s lineup includes nine swimmers from the University of Cebu, three from the Cebu Eastern College, and one each from the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, University of San Carlos-South Campus, FBC Christian School, and Labangon Elementary School.

From UC are the bemedalled Paula Abigail Vega and her brother Michael David Vega, Noel Cañeda and her sister Trina, Beth May Arellano, Pierre Niño Baguio, Fritz Tamara, Joyce Huguete and Romylyn Niña Ignacio.

CEC will be manned by the Navarro siblings in Anthony II, Lyh Ann Navaro and Anthony Linn.

The rest of the Cebuano contenders are USPF’s Danielle Mae Ballesteros, USC-SC’s Tristan Kirk Ebon, FBC’s Michael Ichiro Kong and Labangon’s Karen Mae Indaya.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol    (FREEMAN NEWS)
