Indon 'Terminator' vows to flatten Amonsot anew

-
TAGBILARAN CITY — A few minutes after his arrival here at the thriving capital of Bohol Province yesterday morning, Indonesian hard-puncher Simson Butar Butar issued a brazen, undermining statement.

"I'm going to knock him (Amonsot) out within nine rounds. I stopped him during out first fight and I'm very confident I will defeat him again," said Butar Butar.

The visiting Indonesian "Terminator" is set to challenge the pride of Tagbilaran City Czar Amonsot in a 12-round war for the WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight title in the main event of the "Fight for Revenge" card at 7 pm this Saturday at the Island City Mall carpark.

Butar Butar was accompanied by his trainer Misiyanto and fellow boxer Michael Tarsius, who will show his stuff in the undercard against welterweight prospect Mark Jason Melliguen.

Amonsot, however, is unruffled by Butar Butar's bold statements, saying that he will perform to the fullest of his ability to seek revenge and live up to the expectations of his hometown fans.

"I will go all-out for the win because I don't want to embarrass my hometown fans. I'm ready to defend my crown at all cost," declared Amonsot.

Butar Butar (14-5-1, 10KOs) and Amonsot (17-1-1, 10KOs) brace for a grudge rematch of sort, with the Boholano ring star gnawing his teeth to exact vengeance at his Indon tormentor.

Amonsot tasted his first and only defeat so far when he was floored by Butar Butar in the fifth round of their non-title bout on February 15, 2005 at the RCTI Studio in Jakarta.

Since then, Amonsot racked up eight straight wins, including an eight round stoppage over erstwhile titleholder Victor Mausol to wrest the WBO regional belt on November 19, 2005 at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex in Tagbilaran.

In the supporting main event of the slambang show presented by SGG Promotions in association with the city government of Tagbilaran headed by Mayor Dan Neri Lim, rising ALA star AJ "Bazooka" Banal will take on Thai journeyman Sing Carryboy.

Also to watch out for is former amateur standout Joseph Omaña of Mandaue City, who will take on Richard Cablay of Cagayan de Oro City in a eight-rounder bantamweight duel.

The rest of the exciting card pit Bohol's upcoming boxers Glen Masicampo, Arnel Tadena, Ricky Sismundo, Nic Banal and Leon Maratas against Melvin Ayudtud, Allan Dugang, Frank Albia, Jing Supremo and Markyll Taroja, respectively.

Meanwhile, Banal and Melliguen got an added source of inspiration to strive harder and dream higher after the Tagbilaran City Council approved en masse a resolution by councilor Danilo "Dan" Bantugan declaring the promising ALA pugs as "Adopted Sons of Tagbilaran."

During its regular session yesterday, the city council likewise commended Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP)-7 director Nemesio Monton "for his invaluable contribution and selfless dedication to the development of Bohol boxing both in the amateur and professional ranks."

Tagbilaran Vice Mayor Nuevas Montes, on the other hand, hopes that the upcoming boxing promotion will put Tagbilaran at the forefront of sports, especially in boxing.

"Everybody is looking forward to this event. I hope that this will bring Tagbilaran at the forefront of sports, especially in boxing. Hopefully, we will be able to produce our own world boxing champion in the future," said Montes.
