Cebu dancesport bets see action in New York

After showing an impressive performance in San Francisco, California, Dancesport-Team Cebu City now eyes to conquer New York when the 15th Empire State Dancesport Championships takes place today at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Times Square, Manhattan.

The Cebuano squad will be competing in 33 different events in three days.

If the heat list of the event were to be followed, Cebu City Sports Commission dancesport directress, Eleanor Hayco and DTCC head coach Crisaldo "Loloi" Rendon will have the most number of events to be competed among the Cebuanos.

Hayco and Rendon will be competing in 12 events including the international chacha, samba, rumba, paso doble, jive, waltz, tango, foxtrot and quickstep-open gold -A2 and the amateur international latin open championship involving four dances and the amateur international standard open championship featuring five dances.

Real-life couple Jojie and Jonah del Rosario, on the other hand, will have six events namely the international waltz, tango and foxtrot-open gold-A-1, and the three-dance amateur international standard and also in the amateur international standard open championships with five dances.

Rebecca Gatal-Alix and Renante Saldua, Jeanen Bergado and Lowell Bernados and Jimmy Noel and Karla Fornolles will be competing in four events each while Charlea Lagaras and Genice Marquez will have three.

The 12-member DTCC squad opened their bid in the International Grand Ball Dancesport Championship in San Francisco, California, with 20 gold, four silvers and two bronzes medals. .

The del Rosarios led DTCC's success in San Francisco, contributing six gold medals out of the seven events they joined while the tandem of Rendon and Hayco had five gold, Rebecca Gatal-Alix and Renante Saldua and Jimmy Noel and Karla Fornolles had three gold each and Lowell Barnados and Jeanen Bernado with a gold, four silvers and a bronze.

Genice Marquez and Charlea Lagaras, may be the only couple without a gold, but their bronze was just as good as they competed under the professional division.
