Domingo set to defend RP title against Galicia

-
Michael Domingo of SGG Stable will once again put his Philippine bantamweight title on the line against former champion Roger Galicia of Rex "Wakee" Salud Stable in the main event of the "Bakbakan sa Frisco '06" card on February 3 at the intersection of Roosevelt and Del Monte avenues in Quezon City.

This will be Domingo's second defense of the crown he seized by dethroning Joel Bauya of Emil Romano Stable via ninth round technical decision on July 30 last year at the New San Andres Sports and Civic Center in Manila.

Domingo, who sports a 26-14-3 win-loss-draw record with 12KOs, previously kept his belt by scoring a close unanimous decision victory over ex-PABA titlist Rolly Llunas on October 29 last year at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

Domingo is on a five-game winning streak since his failed attempt to wrest the PABA bantamweight diadem after losing by decision to Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym two years ago in Nakornpanom, Thailand.

Galicia, on the other hand, hasn't won in six fights since winning the WBC International super flyweight title with a fifth round TKO win over Cebuano Johnny Lear on March 15, 2003 at the Luneta Park in Manila.

On paper though, Galicia is the better warrior having compiled a decent record of 23 wins - eight via stoppage -in 32 fights that include six losses and three draws.

In the equally-exciting supporting main event, ALA Boxing Gym mainstay Rollen del Castillo (11-3, 5KOs) will mix it up with Alex Aroy (7-2-1, 4KOs) of RWS Stable, while veteran Fabio Marfa (19-13-4, 12KOs) goes up against Mario de Asis (10-8-4, 4KOs) of Manila's Aljoe de Asis in the other 10-round bout.

Along Denoy (18-6, 11KOs) of SGG Stable, on the other hand, tangles with Jun Eraham (16-11-3, 4KOs) of Lito Mondejar Stable, while the comebacking Johnny Lear (14-11, 6KOs) battles Elpher Paganpan (6-5-1, 2KOs) of Yolly Alfante Stable.

The preliminary action pits Milan Milendo, Jr. against Ruther del Castillo and Rex Malibago opposite Jongjong Gagante.
