Daanbantayan soon to have astrodome
CEBU, Philippines — The Municipality of Daanbantayan in northern Cebu will soon have its own astrodome.
On June 7, Daanbantayan Mayor Sun Shimura together with 4th District Representative Janice Salimbangon led the time capsule laying and groundbreaking ceremony of the project which will be erected in Barangay Agujo.
The facility, which aims to cater to different events in the town, has 2,000 square meters floor area and has a seating capacity of 5,700, according to the Municipality of Daanbantayan Facebook page.
The construction of the facility is expected to begin by the third week of June this year with Duros Development Corporation as the contractor.
Phase 1 of the project is pegged at P39.1 million, according to the local government unit.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will be the implementing agency of the project.
Witnessing the groundbreaking ceremony were the local officials of Daanbantayan like Councilor Wendell Rosell, Association of Barangay Councils president Mark Anthony Luche, Poblacion barangay captain Melissa De Leon, Lanao barangay captain Elma Punay, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator Dale Mito Diano, barangay officials of Poblacion and Lanao, Engr.
