OPAV, Dino help medical facility

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) said it has delivered more than 7,000 food packs to health workers of the government-owned Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).

OPAV said they deliver 320 packed meals three times a week through the help of Cebuano businessman Eric Uy.

OPAV head Michael Lloyd Dino said they were able to help ease the burden of the health care workers, who have been tirelessly working to treat the patients of COVID-19 and other illnesses.

OPAV has been assisting them through free transportation, a Polymerase Chain Reaction PCR and automated extraction machines, extraction and detection kits, swab kits and other consumables to augment testing capacity in the Visayas.

“We are one with our medical frontliners who are risking their lives in this continuing battle against the COVID-19. Providing them with their daily sustenance is our way of showing our appreciation for their sacrifice and to boost their morale,” Dino said in a statement.

He added that donations from the private sector including its regular donor, the Christina Lee Dino Foundation, have helped the government’s efforts and response in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. — GAN (FREEMAN)
