CEBU, Philippines — A total of 45 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) and personnel of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) have recovered from COVID-19.

Provincial Health Office Chief, Dr. Christina Giango, said all those who got infected by the virus at the provincial jail have already recovered from the virus since June.

As of now, Giango said, no additional COVID-19 case was recorded at the facility.

Yesterday, about 60 PDL were swabbed at the CPDRC in compliance with the order of the governor.  These PDLs are set for release based on a court order.

“Gi-isolate na na sila daan, nya duna naman schedule kon kanus-a sila ma-release, so isolate sa sila daan unya pagkahuman after seventh day kuhaan sila og swab,” Giango said.

Those who will test negative will be sent home in coordination with the local government unit while those who test positive will remain in isolation until they recover from the virus.

Based on Executive No. 15 that the governor had issued, the release of PDLs, who are residents of Cebu Province, shall immediately be transferred to an isolation area of the provincial jail to undergo a 14-day quarantine period.

These PDLs will be observed and monitored by the Capitol’s medical personnel and on the seventh day they will be swabbed during their quarantine period.

“Should the swab test of the PDL result in a positive confirmation of the COVID-19, he shall immediately be brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center or any other designated COVID-19 treatment facility where he will remain for proper management and treatment,” read the EO.

Containment measure and contact tracing will follow after the result.  GAN (FREEMAN)
