Promodiser firm to press charges

CEBU, Philippines — The promodiser who got hit by a humidifier that a customer threw at her in the middle of an altercation inside a mall is set to file charges against the suspect.

The Mabolo Police Station operatives had arrested 33-year-old Medelina Berja Yamazaki, who was caught throwing a humidifier at the promodiser inside a mall in Cebu City Saturday night.

Police Major Dindo Juanito Alaras narrated that the suspect may have been irked when victim Jennifer Fabillar reminded the suspect to expedite the testing of the item.

“According sa biktima, nagpa-testing ra siya sa humidifier, unya na dugay-dugay.  So, gi-remind sa katong promodiser nga ‘di raba ni pwede madugay ma’am kay maguba, ma-charge ni sa amoa’,” Alaras said, quoting the victim.

“Karon according pud sa atong suspect, katong atong gidakop, giinsulto daw sya atubangan sa iyang bata, mao to nga ing-ato pud iyang reaction mao tong iya gibato ug humidifier,” he added.

Alaras, however, clarified that the suspect did not really own up to the crime and just said that she got insulted in front of her child.

Fabillar, for her part, is determined to file the charge against Yamazaki.

“Since naa man tay grounds pag-arrest, klaro man gyud ang ebidensya sa video ug sa physical pud nga naay injury tantamount to physical injury nga ma-charge so atong giaresto,” Alaras said.

As to the speculations that is circulating online that the suspect may have a mental condition, Alaras said that they have yet to validate the information since only a doctor could determine it.

However, Alaras added that they are willing to initiate one if the complainant and the suspect would request for a medical opinion.

In fact, Alaras revealed that when they tried to offer medical examination to the suspect as part of the process when she was arrested, Yamazaki allegedly refused to undergo one and even signed a waiver to forego the examination.

The suspect’s husband as well tried to control her wife in the height of their argument, however, because of the language barrier, he was not able to do so, as what could be seen in the video.

Alaras reminded the public and mall goers to extend their patience and address complaints through proper channels. (FREEMAN)
