CEBU, Philippines —  The Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) was recently recognized by the Government Quality Management Committee (GQMC) for meeting their standards and for having an efficient delivery of airport services.

Mary Ann Dimabayao, information officer of MCIAA, said that this is the first time they have received the recognition which was given last Oct. 25 in Pasay City.

“Nakadawat ang MCIAA og certificate of recognition gikan sa Government Quality Management Committee kay na certified ta to ISO 9001:2015,” she said.

The ISO 9001:2015 is a standard focused on meeting customer expectations and delivering customer satisfaction. This was achieved by MCIAA, according to Dimabayao.

The GMQC is a government body responsible in looking after the delivery of effective management processes in government agencies and departments as well as their professional relationship with their clients.

Dimabayao said that efficiency in the administration process, general services as well as the Human Resource processes and the procurement process in their Bid and Awards Committee (BAC) were the positive points found by the GQMC in MCIAA.

“Ang standard among gi-meet gyud. Nalipay kaayo mi ani kay MCIAA gyud ni siya ba ng ana recognize gyud mga first-ever ISO-certified gyud mi. Efficient ang among proseso sa mga gikinahanglanon, internal processes regarding sa among HR,” she said.

MCIAA General Manager and CEO Steve Dicdican was the one who received the award, together with Alvaro R. Derramas, Administrative Department Manager and MCIAA Corporate Planning Division Manager  Gerard B. Montecillo.

Last month, the MCIA ranked 9th  in Southeast Asia airports in terms of on-time performance (OTP) as recognized by OAG, a London-based air travel intelligence group.

According to OAG, the departures and arrivals in the Cebu’s premier hub reportedly takes “strictly less than 15 minutes after scheduled departure and arrival time including cancellations.”

The Cebu-based airport connects to 24 international and 35 domestic destinations through 25 airline companies.

On June, the MCIA, as well as the GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC), has unveiled their second terminal that has a resort-themed facility, wherein President Rodrigo Duterte named MCIA as the best airport in the country. — MBG (FREEMAN)
