The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported that Cebu and most parts of the country will experience a storm-free fair weather until next week.

Alfredo Quiblat Jr., Mactan Chief Meteorological officer, said fair weather is seen to prevail as there is no expected tropical cyclone or low pressure area to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) until Tuesday.

“Most likely fair weather atong masinati. Generally, we will experience hot and sunny weather. We will remain storm-free in the next four to five days,” he said.

Despite no distur-bances foreseen, Quiblat said the whole country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunder-storms in the afternoon and evening due to localized thunderstorms.

According to the weather state bureau’s bulletin, Visayas and Mindanao will be affected by a ridge of high-pressure area which could bring clear skies and warm temperature.

Quiblat said that aside from possible isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms, there will also be light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to southeast.

There is no gale warning issued for the fisherfolk as the coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. Fisherfolk are safe to venture into the sea.

He further said the temperature has been improving from 24 degrees Celsius to 26 degrees Celsius (average), and from 31-32 degrees Celsius to 30-31 degrees Celsius (maximum).

“Ato nang masinati ang kabugnaw ilabi na sayo sa buntag bisan pa man duna’y prevailing El Niño,” said Quiblat. — Kristine B. Quintas/NSA (FREEMAN)
