No bail for 32-year-old man who raped daughter

Mylen P. Manto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - For allegedly raping his daughter, a 32-year-old man is now facing charges before the Regional Trial Court.

Prosecutor Maria Theresa Casiño held the suspect, a resident of Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City, for trial after finding probable cause to charge him for raping his 12-year-old daughter.

Casiño recommended no bail against the suspect.

During the inquest proceedings, the accused opted not to undergo preliminary investigation to answer the allegations filed against him. He instead manifested to face the charges in court.

The FREEMAN withheld the names of the parties involved due to the nature of the case.

The girl alleged that on October 4 this year, at around 2 a.m., she was awakened when she heard her parents arguing.

She said her mother suddenly left in the middle of the argument. She then allegedly admonished her father for fighting with her mother.

Just then, her father allegedly asked her who she would choose between them.

“He made me chose where I would be, will I be with my mother or with him which I answer, with my mother. He got angry with my answer and punched me at the stomach for several times,” she stated, adding that her father threatened to kill them including her two siblings aged 9 and 5.

Later, the victim said, she was told by her father that if she wanted to see her mother and her siblings, she would allow him with what he would do.

It was then that her father allegedly sexually abused her.

When her father slept, she allegedly went out and looked for her mother.

She told her mother what her father did to her. They then went to the police station and reported the incident, leading to the suspect’s arrest. —/NSA (FREEMAN)
