Random violence hurts Kenyan

CEBU, Philippines- A Kenyan national got injured after he was allegedly mauled by a group of men who were drinking at Kauswagan Road, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City Saturday dawn.

Francis Kakui, 39, a native of Machakoa, Kenya and is temporarily staying at San Jose, Cebu City, sustained injuries in different parts of his body after he was beaten by unidentified men.

Police investigation shows that Kakui passed by a group of seven unidentified persons having a drinking session on his way home at around 2:30 a.m. last Saturday.

The group was reportedly composed of five males and two females.

  The victim greeted them “Hi” when he passed by them. However, one of the male suspects approached him from behind and punched him twice without any provocation.

The other four male suspects joined their companion and started beating the victim.

Kakui told the police that one of the suspects hit him using a hard and long object. The victim sustained a cut on his right temple.

Fortunately, the victim managed to flee from his attackers.

He then reported the incident to the police and requested for police assistance. Members of Talamban Police Station responded to the call for assistance but failed to arrest the suspects, who have fled before the police arrived.

Police Officer 1 Gringo Muldez, desk officer of Talamban Police Station, said that the alleged group made fun of Kakui and mauled him. He added that the suspects were possibly from the area.

 Muldez also said that Kakui, who was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center for medical treatment, was already in stable condition as of press time.  (FREEMAN)
