CIB operatives awarded for fight vs drugs

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Four members of the City Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police Office received the “Medalya ng Papuri” yesterday after carrying out a series of successful anti-illegal drugs operations.

Police Regional Office 7 Director, Chief Supt. Prudencio Tom Bañas, pinned the medals on CIB deputy chief Insp. Gomersendo Mandawe, SPO3 Raul Cosido, SPO1 Jeffrey Diola and PO2 Alemar Damaolao.

The award was given to the four following the arrest of live-in couple Leny dela Cruz and Raffy Abaya in Barangy Lorega-San Miguel, Cebu City in October, which also yielded suspected shabu worth P1.2 million.

Mandawe said he is happy that their efforts are being recognized. He hopes that the commendation would motivate their colleagues to perform better not only in the campaign against illegal drugs but also in their fight against illegal gambling.

“Tungod sa kampanya sa illegal nga drugs, mao sad nay makapaikag sa uban unit. Ipadayon lang gyud ang gusto sa RD, dili lang sa drugs kon dili sa illegal gambling. Dili lang mu-relax,” Mandawe said, emphasizing CIB’s seriousness in its efforts to curb all forms of criminality.

This year, CIB, under the leadership Supt. Romeo Santander, made its biggest catch with the confiscation of illegal drugs worth P10 million.  (FREEMAN)
