13 cops awarded for exemplary works

CEBU, Philippines - Thirteen policemen have been given the Medalya ng Kagalingan for their exemplary performance in the fight against illegal drugs and for having able to neutralize a robbery group in Cebu.

 Police Regional Office-7 director, Chief Superintendent Prudencio Bañas, personally awarded the merit medal to Provincial Intelligence Branch chief, Superintendent Rodolfo Albotra, and subordinates Senior Inspector Ramil Morpos, Senior Inspector Armado Labora, SPO4 Jaime Otadoy, PO2 Rolly Getubig, PO1 Earl Warren Martinez, and PO1 Samuel Alvarez for their successful anti-narcotics operation in Barangay Tangke, Talisay City last month wherein more than 50 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P500,000 were seized. Seven suspected drug personalities were also arrested during the operation.

Also given the same award were Senior Inspector Leo Logroño, SPO1 Francis Alen Villamor, and PO3 Jethro Puao for arresting a big time drug pusher and four of his cohorts in Barangay Catarman, Liloan last month.

On the other hand, Toledo City police chief, Chief Inspector Michael Anthony Bastes, and his men, SPO1 Jeffrey Matunog and PO3 Roxam Enerio were also recognized for arresting Eusebio Piloto and Hadie Piosdos early last month following a robbery in Barangay Ilihan, Toledo City.

The suspected robbers were arrested in a hot pursuit operation Barangay Lamesa, Balamban.

Meanwhile, five police stations affected by the super typhoon Yolanda last year were also given computer sets and motorcycles. The recipients were the police stations in Bogo City, Medellin, Daanbantayan, Bantayan, and San Remigio.  (FREEMAN)
