Cobbler shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - A shoe repairman was shot dead by an unidentified man in Sitio Tigkahoy, Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City, Saturday evening. This came after a heated argument inside an eatery in the said barangay.

Elizaldo Estrada, 38, was hit on different parts of the body and head. He was brought to Lapu-Lapu City Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Noli Cortes.

Initial investigation conducted by PO1 Jomar Florentino disclosed that the victim was last seen eating in an eatery owned by a certain Rolando Cruz around 8pm on Saturday.

While eating, witnesses said three people approached the victim. This was followed by a heated argument. Minutes later, Estrada left the eatery.

Police reports also stated that the victim was sitting outside his rented room when an unidentified person shot him.

Responding Lapu-Lapu City policemen recovered 6 empty shells and three deformed slugs of .45 caliber pistol. They brought the empty shells and deformed slugs to the PNP Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.

Investigations are ongoing as regards motive for the killing.  (FREEMAN)
