DOH-7 seeks understanding on delayed repair of facilities
CEBU, Philippines - Regional health authorities are asking the public to consider the “little delay’ in the repair of health facilities in northern Cebu that were damaged by super typhoon Yolanda.
“Mangayo mig pasensya kay medyo delayed ang repairs sa atong health facilities nga naguba adtong super typhoon Yolanda. Wala pa ang money,†said Department of Health Central Visayas Regional Director Jaime Bernadas.
It has already been four months since Yolanda wreaked havoc in Eastern Visayas and Northern Cebu, causing billions of pesos worth of residential, commercial and infrastructural damage.
Of the P44 million estimated damage in health facilities in Northern Cebu, P21 million has already been allocated after complying with the documentary requirements.
“We have already conducted the pre-bidding last week for the first batch. Wala pa ma-download ang money but allocated na. As soon as naa na ang nahuman na ang atong bidding.â€
Bidding for the affected health infrastructure is set before the month ends.
The P21 million fund is allotted for the rehabilitation of nine rural health units, 48 barangay health stations (BHS) and three hospitals.
The first batch of areas covered were among the most hit by the typhoon like Daanbantayan, Bantayan, Sta. Fe, Madridejos, San Remigio, Medellin, Bogo City, Poro and San Francisco both in Camotes islands. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
