Cops to question man over teen’s rape-slay

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Police will be inviting for questioning a person who frequently goes to the area where the 19-year-old high school student was found dead in Barangay Mabolo last Saturday morning.

The man was an alleged industrial glue user. Police hope he can give them information as they also suspect other substance users are responsible for the crime.

Cebu City Police Office Director, Sr. Supt. Mariano Natu-el Jr. said the person is subject for verification only.

“Naa’y nakasulti nga kini siya pirmi sa lugar unya tigamitan pud,” Natu-el said in a phone interview.

As of now, police do not yet have witnesses to the crime.

Police already invited some people for questioning right after the body of Quennie Marie Arriesgado was found at a grassy portion near the Mahiga Creek.

Police already have leads but cannot yet reveal names yet until all suspected assailants have been arrested.

The autopsy on the body of Arriesgado, a resident of Barangay Luz, showed that she died of strangulation. She also had lacerations in her hymen indicating that she was raped before she was strangled to death.

Arriesgado also had abrasions in her face and body due to possible resistance, although there were no stab wounds. Police suspect Arriesgado was killed somewhere else and was just dumped there.

Arriesgado sold newspapers and tended a barbecue stall to support her studies as a third year high school student at the Zapatera National High School where she attends class from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Police are confident that they can arrest her assailant soon. — (FREEMAN)
