Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A chief tanod shot dead a 23-year-old man who had an argument with his brother in the mountain barangay of Sandayong Norte, Danao City, around 9 p.m. last Monday.

The victim identified as Kim Perez succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body after he was shot by Roel Entero, 43.  Both were residents of the same barangay.

Perez was rushed to the Danao Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The responding officer, Insp. Romeo Caacoy, said that Perez was confronted by Entero after the former had a fistfight with Entero’s brother about three days ago.

“Ang igsuon sad sa suspek magmaoy man pud og mahubog maong nakulatahan,” Caacoy said in a phone interview.

Caacoy said that Entero confronted Perez earlier that day which resulted to a heated argument before both parted ways.

Around 8:45 p.m., Entero saw Perez walking home drunk.  Entero pulled out his homemade .38 cal. revolver and repeatedly shot Perez hitting him in the right arm, right leg, abdomen, and in the back with the slug exiting from the chest.

Entero voluntarily surrendered to Barangay Captain Henara Manulat who later turned him over to the responding police.

Police failed to recover the firearm used, no other evidence was recovered at the crime scene.

Caacoy said they are preparing a murder case against Entero who is now detained at the Danao City police stockade.  — (FREEMAN)
