Farmer kills own father in Tabogon

CEBU, Philippines - A 38-year-old farmer killed his father by hitting him in the head several times with a piece of wood near their house in Sitio Danawan, Barangay Alang-Alang, Tabogon town Tuesday.

Teofilo Mahusay, 63, also a farmer, suffered severe head injuries after he was repeatedly struck by his son, Esteban Mahusay, with a 30-inch long piece of wood at around 6:15 p.m.

Esteban voluntarily surrendered to the police right after the incident and admitted killing his father, Teofilo.

Investigation conducted by SPO2 Sonny Ceniza revealed that Teofilo was apparently under the influence of liquor when he arrived home and provoked Esteban which resulted into a heated altercation.

Gay Tisoro, Esteban’s live-in partner, alleged that she saw both father and son having an argument at the back of their house near the septic tank. However, she ignored the two as she always sees them arguing whenever Teofilo was drunk.

 A few minutes later, Tisoro noticed a sudden silence between the two and decided to check outside.  There she saw Teofilo already bleeding and lying on the ground.

The victim was no longer taken to the hospital and was instead directly taken to the Noeslan Funeral Homes in Catmon town.

Meanwhile, a man who was believed to have been killed was found lying on a concrete bench at the Ocean Village, Barangay South Poblacion, Naga City

5:30 a.m. yesterday.

The victim was taken to the Minglanilla District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Marli Pamapasi, 35, of Barangay Inuboran and security guard of the village, was conducting inspection when he found the victim. He then called the police.

The police are still clueless on the identity of the man who was only described as wearing a brown jacket, white T-shirt, a pair of checkered and blood stained short pants. There was also no identification card found.

The head of the man was also injured and was believed to have been hit by a hard object.

The body now lies at the St. Francis Funeral Homes waiting for relatives to claim the body.— (FREEMAN)
