P1 billion projects for third district

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) submitted to the Regional Development Council (RDC) 7 the list of various infrastructure projects amounting to almost P1 billion for the third district of the Province of Cebu.

District Engineer James Dellosa submitted the list of projects to the Infrastructure Development Committee of RDC 7 with the concurrence of third district Rep. Pablo John Garcia.

The RDC will endorse the projects for inclusion in the 2014 budget of the DPWH.

To address traffic congestion, the DPWH proposed the amount of P591.8 million.

This includes P387 million for the construction of Magsaysay Arc Bridge along Cebu-Balamban transcentral road in barangay Gaas, Balamban; P42 million construction of Mangoto Bridge along Toledo-Pinamungajan-Aloguinsan, Mantalongon road in barangay Mangoto, Pinamungajan; P71 million construction of Talavera Bridge in Toledo City and P25 million completion of Suba Bridge along Toledo-Tabuelan-San Remigio road in barangay Poblacion, Tuburan.

Also included is the P60 million for the widening of Cebu-Toledo wharf road in barangays of Ilihan and Sangi in Toledo City amounting to P45 million and the widening of Toledo-Tabuelan-San Remigio road amounting to P15 million.

There is also a proposed reconstruction of critical sections of national arterial and secondary roads and geometric alignment with box culvert of Toledo-Tabuelan-San Remigio road mounting to P6.8 million.

The DPWH also proposed P132 million for the preventive maintenance, rehabilitation and reconstruction of Uling-Toledo road, Toledo-Tabuelan-San Remegio road, Toledo-Pinamungajan-Aloguinsan-Mantalongon road.

The list also includes the upgrading of Toledo-Pinamungajan-Aloguinsan-Mantalongon road and Tapal (Carcar)-Zaragosa-Olango, Aloguinsan road amounting to P79.6 million.

For flood control and drainage, the DPWH proposed P130.5 million and P5.5 million for the slope and roadside protection particularly along Uling-Toledo road in barangay Media Once in Toledo City, barangays Abucayan and Pondol in Balamban; Owak, San Roque and Tubigagmanok in Asturias.  (FREEMAN)
