CEBU, Philippines - A man was injured after he was shot by the new lover of his former live-in-partner, in sitio Badjang, Barangay Toong, Cebu City Friday night.

Fidie Algoso, 28, was wounded in the chest after he was shot by Wani Abellanosa, a construction worker and the new live-in-partner of Eudelyn Oliveros, his former partner.

According to the police investigation, Algoso was inside his house when Oliveros, his former live-in-partner, came at past 7 p.m. and demanded to get the appliances at his house that they once shared.

Oliveros was accompanied by Abellanosa, one Algier Quijano, 25, and an unidentified man.

Algoso strongly refused. He went outside and confronted Oliveros and her companions but Abellanosa reportedly shot him.

He was grazed in the right side of his chest. Abellanosa and his companions then fled.

PO3 Virgilio Bugatan of the Cebu City Public Safety Company conducted hot pursuit operation and arrested Quijano. The two other suspects eluded arrest. Algoso identified Quijano as one of the suspects.

The victim told police that he and Oliveros separated last month and Abellanosa is now her new live-in-partner.

Algoso will be filing charges against the suspects.

Meanwhile in another shooting incident, one died and another was injured in Barangay Lawaan III, Talisay City Saturday evening.

Police have zeroed in on love triangle as motive of the killing of Rolie Cueva, 26, sales clerk, native of Bantayan Island and temporarily residing in Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City.

Cueva, a distant relative of Supt. Audie Villacin, chief of the Regional Investigative and Detective Management Division, succumbed to three gunshot wounds in the back portion of his body.

Injured was Jun Cris Quiroga, 18, security guard of the GDS Security Agency and of Lusimba, Pardo, Cebu City.

He sustained one gunshot wound also in the back portion of his body.

The two were assigned at the Cebu Atlantic Hardware in Bulacao, Talisay City. They were rushed to the Minglanilla District Hospital but Cueva did not get there alive while Quiroga was taken to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for further medication.

Their third companion, Delre Ortega, 33, merchandiser of the same company and of Barangay Labangon, Cebu City was unharmed.

SPO1 Mikie Espina, homicide chief, said victims were reportedly heading to a friend’s birthday celebration in Barangay Lipata, Minglanilla on board a Honda Wave motorcycle bearing plate number 1494OU driven by Ortega.

As they reached Barangay Lawaan III, three unidentified persons who were also on board a motorcycle tailed the victims. One of the back riders pulled out an undetermined caliber of firearm and fired at the victims several times hitting Cueva and Quiroga.

No evidence was recovered in the scene.

Espina said they identified the gunman as Jorildine Ababon, 19, of Barangay Lawaan III, based on the description given by Ortega.

Espina disclosed that the girlfriend of Cueva also had a relationship with Ababon. The girl also worked in the same hardware company.

“Mas una lang sila anang Ababon una niya gisugot si Cueva,” Espina said.

The police investigator added that workmates of the victim even disclosed that the couple were displaying affection while at work.

Recently, Ababon spied at Cueva and the girl.Cueva lived before in Cebu City where he was reportedly mauled by the group of Ababon. This prompted him to transfer in Talisay City.

Espina added that Ababon was once involved as gun-for-hire based on their records.

For his part, Villacin told The FREEMAN he helped the Talisay City police in the monitoring as well as to guide the police to exert more effort in investigating the case. — (FREEMAN)
