2-day renewable energy summit kicks off today
CEBU, Philippines - An international conference on renewable energy and energy efficiency will be held today until tomorrow at the Macro Polo Plaza Hotel in Cebu City.
The conference, which is organized by the Association of United Filipinos Trained in Germany, will feature the different types of renewable energy technologies to be presented by local and international experts.
The technologies include wind, solar, hydro and biomass, featuring the potentials and opportunities for the Philippines.
During the two-day conference, which will start at 9 am until 4:30 pm, each expert will answer questions from the public and discuss their work and experiences.
In addition to renewable energy, topics on energy management and financing will also be presented.
Conference attendees will find brochures and leaflets of technology providers from Renewable-Made in Germany, which is facilitated by the German-Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Last November, eight German solar power firms visited the country to look for potential business partners for solar energy development and projects.
Besides meeting potential business partners in the country, the German companies held high level talks with the Board of Investments, Department of Energy, as well as with financial and educational institution officials.
True to the word of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) last year, they brought German companies involved in biomass and biogas in the country this year.
The ECCP, GPCCI and Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit have been spearheading the drive for the use of renewable energy and the implementation of energy efficient programs among companies in the country. – (FREEMAN)
