Gullas hospital boosts services, int'l linkages

CEBU, Philippines - The Vicente Gullas Memorial Hospital (VGMH) in Banilad, Mandaue City is improving its facilities further by opening a new building and forging ties with a Korean University for plastic surgery.

VGMH and University of the Visayas President Eduardo Gullas and University of the Visayas Executive Vice President and Vice President for Finance Jose Gullas led the blessing and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new building and facilities.

The new building houses the VGMH Out-Patient Department, CCTV Room, Intensive Care Unit, Cardio Room, Ultrasound Room, Conference Room and Medical Archive Room.

A tertiary hospital accredited with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), VGMH, a 100-bed capacity hospital, is now equipped with complete emergency room services, ICU with latest patient monitors, stress/treadmill testing, holter monitoring, 2D Echocardiography with Vascular Studies, operating room services, laboratory services, Newlife Cosmetic Surgery Center, the Tan Kim Ching Cancer Center with Radiotherapy, complete executive check-up and extensive diabetic panel.

VGMH Director Leticia Abinuman said close-circuit-television cameras will be installed at the hospital for the security and safety of patients and clients.

In his speech, Eduardo told the doctors that the hospital is improving little by little worthy of the vision of the greatness of his father, Don Vicente.

“We are worthy of the name medical center,” Eduardo said.

He tasked his brother, Jose, to sit with their Korean counterparts in coming up with a formal agreement as regards the plastic surgery services VGMH will offer soon.

VGMH Director Leticia Abinuman said representatives of the Korean group were present during the event yesterday and negotiations are underway.

Also highlighting the activity and Christmas party yesterday was the awarding of top 10 medical practitioners with most numbers of admissions.

The awardees are Dr. Abinuman, Dr. Alfredo Bongo, Jr.; Dr. Guilberto Fernandez, Dr. Emmanuel Gines, Dr. Annabella Hugo, Dr. Nolita Montera, Dr. Marie Ellaine Nielo, Dr. Bernardina Regner, Dr. Paul John So and Dr. Ma. Mae Yap.  (FREEMAN)
