Burglary captured on security camera

CEBU, Philippines - A package that was filled with expensive gadgets and other valuables lost to a burglar who barged into a house along Osmeña Boulevard, Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City Saturday night.

SPO3 Armie Coloscos of the Theft and Robbery Section said the suspect was found out to be a scavenger through the video footage captured by a security camera installed at the house.

The victim, Lotis Taok said she arrived home at 8 p.m. along with her husband and child when they noticed the lock of the main door was forcibly destroyed.

“Ang dila-dila sa lock sa pultahan ilhan nga gilugit maong naabli ug nakasud ang kawatan,” Coloscos told The FREEMAN.

When the victims arrived, they discovered that the stuffs inside the package recently sent to them by a relative abroad, were already missing. The victim and her family are renting an old two-storey house, Coloscos said.

The victim recalled the missing items include a box of lotion and shampoo worth P20,000; trial case also worth P20,000; hard disk worth P18,000; Oakley sunglasses worth P16,000; watches that amounted to P5,500 and P5,000 worth of jewelry pieces.

Also missing were three boxes of Corelle plates worth P5,000; three assorted bags worth P6,800; comforter bag worth P2,000; rubber shoes worth P1,000 and flat iron worth P700.

The items, apart from those that are not accounted for, amounted to exactly P100,000.

Coloscos said there were still other items lost as the abovementioned items were just among those that the victim could remember placed inside the package.

The police officer said the security camera captured a tall and skinny man hastily placing the items in a bag before disappearing.

“Scavenger man to siya. Mao man na siya pirmi namo makit-an nga magpurong-purong. Basta kaila ko ana niya. Mao na’y among gi-follow-up karon,” Coloscos said.

The police officer added that the couple has installed a security camera on their personal computer owing to two previous burglary incidents inside their house. – THE FREEMAN
