Man survives jump off bridge

CEBU, Philippines – A man who leapt from the Marcelo Fernan Bridge (Mandaue side) Wednesday afternoon survived the plunge.

People who were having fun at the Fajara park, which is located under the bridge, heard a splash and saw a man clinging to a post. They immediately called the police.

The police rescued Robinson Paquibot, 33, married, with five children, a shoe repairman who resides in barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City, and took him to the Mandaue City Hospital, except for back pains, Paquibot is in good health.

He said he jumped off the bridge because someone has been following him and wanted to kill him.

The police located his family and learned that Paquibot's father also jumped off from the same bridge years ago. (FREEMAN)
