Man held for gun

CEBU, Philippines – A 20-year-old man was arrested yesterday dawn for possession of a homemade hand-gun while inside a private cemetery in barangay Mohon, Talisay City.

The police pounced on Jordan Centillas, 20, single, of barangay Lawaan I, while loitering the South Memorial Garden with a handgun.

Other men were also arrested for possession of various types of bladed weapons while entering the city's five cemeteries.

The Talisay City police, since last Saturday, had posted several of its men in these areas on account of the influx of people.

It was PO1 Rogelio Gutang Jr. who spotted Centillas carrying a Homemade .38 caliber revolver at around 1 a.m. Gutang found the gun was loaded with two bullets.

Centillas was brought to the police station where he was detained pending the filing of a criminal charge against him.

Despite the arrest, city police chief Supt. Henry Biñas described the observance of the All Souls' Day as "peaceful." (FREEMAN)
