MCWD to build five water reservoirs to ensure 24/7 supply

CEBU, Philippines - The Metropolitan Cebu Water District will be constructing five water reservoirs in Cebu City to ensure a continuous water supply even in elevated areas starting next year.

MCWD assistant general manager for operations Ernie Delco said that these reservoirs will be constructed in Barangays Guadalupe, Nivel, Apas, Kalunasan and Lahug.

Delco said this is part of the 24/7 program of the water district aimed at providing nonstop water supply to the consumers 24 hours a day and seven days a week starting on the later part of 2011.

MCWD considered the five barangays as “thirsty areas” because there is no water available at all times.

Last week, MCWD entered a joint venture agreement with Abejo Builders Corporation for a bulk water supply in Barangay Apas.

ABC will be supplying 2,000 cubic meter of water daily.

The agreement will take effect six months after the signing of the contract last Friday. MCWD is now pumping the required 174,000 cubic meters of water daily.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
