Woman falls for drugs; 2 arrested in Danao

CEBU, Philippines - A 19-year-old pregnant woman was arrested during an operation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 last Thursday in barangay Carreta, Cebu City.

Richelle Diola was arrested when she tried to sell at least two packs of suspected shabu around 6 p.m. in Ponce Compound.

Operatives from the PDEA-7 conducted a buy-bust operation against the suspect outside her house, pretending to buy two packs of shabu from her for P150 each. Diola, however, did not resist arrest.

The suspect, a six-month pregnant, admitted that she has been selling drugs to support her pregnancy since her husband is only a garbage collector.

She is now detained at the PDEA-7 stockade facing a charge for illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, police arrested two teenagers for possessing an unlicensed firearm and suspected shabu Thursday night in sitio Cadastral, Looc, Danao City.

Police identified the suspects as Michael Palma, 18, of sitio Pulang Yuta, and Randy Mondigo, 18, of sitio Sto. Niño.

Danao City policemen reportedly received a text message from PO3 Pedro Borinaga asking for back-up regarding unidentified persons, later identified as the suspects, firing indiscriminately around 8 p.m.

Policemen then responded to the alarm and arrested the suspects.

A .357 caliber pistol with five live ammunitions and an empty shell were recovered from Palma while a pack of suspected shabu was also recovered each from their possession. — Niña G. Sumacot/LPM   (FREEMAN NEWS)
