Police to re-file case vs. pastor

-

CEBU, Philippines – The police will re-file the case against Pastor Leonardo Jastiva, Sr. if they will not able to file a motion for reconsideration tomorrow, the last day for the filing of the said motion.

Cebu City Police Office Director Patrocinio Comendador said the ten-day term for the filing of the motion for reconsideration will end tomorrow.

According to him, they received a copy of the dismissal of the case last Monday and they were given the option to file a motion.

Comendador said until now they have not yet received a result from the National Telecommunications Commission, which conducted the transcription of the text messages on the two cellular phones owned by Jastiva that were allegedly used in the kidnapping of his wife, Judith.

Nevertheless, the police director said the NTC assured them that they will hasten the task given to them and come up with the result that will be of a big help to the case that they may re-file before the court.

As reported, the CCPO planned to file the motion after the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office dismissed the case accusing Jastiva as the mastermind of the alleged kidnapping and killing of his wife early this year.

Jastiva was arrested based on his cellular phones, which he allegedly used in the kidnapping and killing of Judith.

Judith was reportedly kidnapped by at least three men on board a car last January in Barangay Labangon and was found dead several days after in Barangay Tabunan. — Niña G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
